This penguin is sitting on a nest, waiting patiently for the return of its mate. The couples take turns on the nest while the other hunts krill. They spend most of their lives at sea, but each year they return to the old nest site and wait for their mate to return. Penguins mate for life, but will take a new mate if widowed.
