Watercolor framed size 29 x 37"

Ruined outbuildings at Grytviken. It is here that in 1916 Sir Earnest Shackleton and his party of six finally arrived after his two-year odyssey across the ice and a remarkable 800 mile voyage in a 22-foot open boat across the roughest water in the world. They landed in a hurricane on the uninhabited side of South Georgia Island, and spent 10 days traversing the mountainous interior before finally reaching the whaling station.
