Sunken whaling ships rest on the bottom as they rust away at Grytviken, South Georgia Island. Remote as it is, in Shackleton's times there was a thriving whaling industry on the island. Even the tough Norwegian whalers were taken aback at first sight of the ragged Shackleton party when they finally arrived at the station after two years on the ice.
