Watercolors and prints by Michelle Van Berkom

The sea has always been a major part of Michelle Van Berkom's life and in her art. From her studio on Washington State's Hood Canal, she captures scenes in watercolor from a sailor's life.

Her fearless use of controlled accident and serendipitous events to express a time and place: pooling and puddling, splashes and surprising texture creates the glacier-line of fjords and lush islands of Prince William Sound, an oasis in the Atacama desert, the horn-like blue peaks of Patagonia.
